INTRODUCTION

Before beginning your entry submission, carefully read these Entry Conditions. Submitting an entry means that you have read and agreed to all the Entry Conditions, including obtaining appropriate releases and authorities in writing from your client, photographer and, where applicable, the principal of the design practice.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Any Australian-based design professional may enter, including interior designers, interior decorators, interior architects, architects and all other design professionals. Entries are encouraged from individuals, groups, partnerships and those working in larger practices.
  2. Projects must have been completed between 1 September 2007 and 31 December 2008 and may not have been previously entered into this Awards program.
  3. Projects must be furnished / complete.
  4. Projects may be entered in more than 1 category, where appropriate (separate submission and entry fee required).
  5. Award winners for 2008 DIA State Chapter programs will automatically be short-listed into relevant categories of the 2009 Interior Design Awards, on re-submission of their awarded project. Relevant parties will be contacted by the event organiser to make submission arrangements.
  6. Dulux is a sponsor of the Interior Design Awards. Entrants into the residential and commercial interiors categories of the Dulux Colour Awards will automatically be considered for the 2009 Interior Design Awards categories for Colour in Commercial and Residential Interiors.
  7. Forbo is a sponsor of the Premier Award for Interior Design Excellence and Innovation. Interior Design Awards entries that feature Forbo product are eligible to enter the Fly Forbo Fly to Europe Competition (www.forbo-flooring.com.au).

JUDGING

  1. Judging is conducted under the auspices of the Design Institute of Australia and observes the protocols of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Interior Designers.
  2. The judging process is anonymous and confidential. To ensure anonymity in judging, no names of applicants or collaborating parties may appear on submitted images, floorplans or written support materials.
  3. Jurors are required to declare any association or conflict of interest regarding an entry and step down from the panel for judging of that entry.
  4. This awards program is not a competition. The jury reserves the right to give multiple awards and / or commendations in a given category. The jury also reserves the right not to give awards / commendations in a given category.
  5. The Jury reserves the right to re-classify the project to a more appropriate category, if deemed necessary.
  6. Jury decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

KEY DATES

  1. Entry submissions will be accepted from Monday 17 November 2008 until 5.00 pm EST, Friday 20 February 2009.
  2. An email confirming receipt of entries will be sent to applicants by close of business on 27 February 2009.
  3. Requests to withdraw an entry will be accepted if made in writing prior to the submission deadline of Friday 20 February 2009, with full refund of entry fee. After this date and up until Friday 6 March projects may be withdrawn but the entry fee will be forfeited. After Friday 6 March, projects cannot be withdrawn.
  4. The Short List will be published online by close of business on Tuesday 10 March and short listed entrants will also be notified in writing.
  5. Awards and Commendations will be announced during the Presentation Dinner on Friday 1 May 2009.
  6. Winners and Commendations published on line from Tuesday 5 May 2009.

PUBLICITY & COPYRIGHT

  1. By entering this program, the applicant confirms that they have obtained their client’s written approval to enter and for any resultant publicity. In the case of residential projects, the client’s name and the project address will not be published.
  2. By entering, the applicant (if not the practice principal) confirms that they have obtained the authority of the principal to enter the program, including for any resultant publicity.
  3. The Organiser does not make any claims on copyright or intellectual property of the designs entered other than the rights outlined under point 4 below. By entering this program, the applicant agrees to absolve the Organiser from any liability relating to confidentiality or intellectual property issues that may be raised by any party.
  4. The Organiser reserves the right to exhibit (at designEX, for example) or publish (in Artichoke, for example) any or all of the entries. By entering the Awards the applicant/owner gives permission to the Organiser to publish, exhibit and promote the content of the submission (except, in the case of residential interiors, when the client’s name and the project’s address will not be publicised), including by sponsors of the Awards, where their use of submission content is specifically related to their promotion of the Awards. In all promotion, the Organiser will endeavour to promote the name of the design firm/s and, where the Organiser is made aware of their names and to the extent that the Organiser can exert editorial control, photographers will be acknowledged. All finalists must be prepared to submit further material for exhibition and publication if required, such as additional photography, drawings and other information. The applicant acknowledges that the Organiser has the right to reproduce materials in whole or part without payment of release or licensing fees to the holder of publication rights or copyright.

ENTRY FEES

  1. Entry fees are payable for projects submitted into Primary Categories (1 to 7). Entry into all Additional Categories (8 to 15) is free.
  2. The first Primary Category entry is charged at $300, with subsequent Primary Category entries charged at $150 each, where the applicant for multiple projects is from the same company.
  3. To obtain multiple entry discounts, complete payment for all projects with your first entry submission.
  4. Members of the Design Institute of Australia receive a discount of 33% from the entry fees. For non-DIA members wishing to join the Institute, refer www.design.org.au.
  5. On completion of payment, the entry form becomes a tax invoice, so retain a copy for your tax records.

GENERAL

  1. An entry shall be excluded from the program:
    1. if received after the advertised closing date (except if delayed in transit when they may be included at the discretion of the Organiser/Jury Convenor)
    2. if it does not fulfil these Entry Conditions
    3. if it is incomplete or doesn’t conform to the correct format as specified under Submission Requirements
  2. The Organiser is committed to providing a quality awards program to the Australian design industry and makes every attempt to ensure accuracy, currency and reliability of the information included on this website and elsewhere. However, changes in content and process may become necessary at the absolute discretion of the Organiser. The Organiser accepts no liability for any use of the said content or reliance placed upon it.
